The Characters
Living, breathing inhabitants of The Realm

Why do we love, follow, hate, ignore, argue about, and agonize over the athletes in sports? I’d argue it’s because they’re interesting. And they’re interesting on two important levels that we’re designing Characters for in Fantasy Fantasy:
Performance — Levels, stats, abilities/moves, and many other aspects make up the ability for a Character to perform in a Battle.
Personality — Every Character in the game will have a history, tendencies, and lore that shapes the decisions they make. They’ll each have an AI personality that changes over time through the Battles they get involved in as well as the interactions they have during and after. They will give public statements, engage in competitive rhetoric with other characters and interact directly with Players.
Characters on a player's Team can be rostered to participate in the next Battle, traded, dropped, interviewed, strategized with, sent to taunt other Teams, and developed. Just like a Character in an RPG, these Characters will gain levels, powers, and abilities over time.
